Gamera: Rebirth

Boco, Joe, and Junichi are spending their last elementary school summer in 1989 Tokyo when Brody, the son of an American soldier, is pushed into their group. Their ordinary fights over money, friendship, and leaving childhood behind are interrupted when Gyaos attack the city. The boys survive only because Gamera appears and destroys the monsters. Government and military forces cannot explain what is happening, and the children are taken into protection by adults connected to the Eustace Foundation. The group is told that Gamera may be the only thing standing between humanity and a chain of giant creatures, but each new attack makes it clear that the children themselves are being pulled toward the center of the disaster.

Their escape turns into a journey through one kaiju incident after another. Jiger, Zigra, Guiron, Viras, and larger forms of Gyaos appear while the Eustace Foundation hides its real purpose behind research and rescue. Boco forms a strange link with Gamera, and the others begin to understand that the monsters are not random accidents. They are tied to old plans, artificial life, and a system that treats children as part of a sacrifice. James Tazaki and Emiko Melchiorri help at first, but the truth around the Foundation keeps shifting. Gamera protects the children even when he is injured, reprogrammed, or pushed beyond recovery. The final conflict exposes that the same forces studying the kaiju also want to use them to reshape humanity. Boco and his friends survive because Gamera chooses protection over the purpose he was made for, leaving them with the memory of a summer where childhood ended under monster attacks and one guardian refused to obey his creators.
