In a fractured empire built on wartime myth, a boyish wanderer named Koinzell moves from border towns to baronial strongholds, hunting the Seven Heroes everyone worships. One of those labeled betrayers, the swordsman Ascheriit, survived in an altered elfin body as Koinzell. Carrying a black blade and the memory of that night, he cuts through garrisons, courts, and marching armies to expose the lie, toppling fiefs that thrive on borrowed glory, bringing down a floating fortress, and ending secret experiments on captives. Imperial orders and private knightly orders call him the Hero Killer, forcing duels and sieges, but each victory brings him closer to the nobles who built the legend and to restoring the names of the comrades they erased.
