Ren Amamiya is sent to Tokyo on probation after being falsely accused while trying to stop an assault. He lives above Café Leblanc with Sojiro Sakura and starts at Shujin Academy, where he meets Ryuji Sakamoto and discovers a strange phone app that opens a hidden world shaped by distorted desires. Inside the palace of abusive teacher Kamoshida, Ren awakens Arsene and begins changing hearts by stealing the core of a target’s corruption. Ann Takamaki joins after the abuse around her friend Shiho becomes impossible to ignore, and the group forms the Phantom Thieves. Their targets grow from a school tyrant to a fraudulent artist, a mafia boss, a corporate president, and a prosecutor trapped by her own obsession with victory. Morgana guides them through palaces and Mementos, while Yusuke, Makoto, Futaba, and Haru join after their own lives are damaged by adults using power for profit or control. Public support rises, then collapses when the thieves are framed for mental shutdowns. Goro Akechi enters the group while hiding his work for Masayoshi Shido, the politician tied to Ren’s criminal record and the larger conspiracy. Ren survives a staged execution, exposes Akechi’s betrayal, and leads the thieves into Shido’s palace to force his confession. When society still refuses to think for itself, Mementos merges with reality and the false Igor is revealed as the Holy Grail. Ren frees his friends, rejects the prison built from public apathy, and the Phantom Thieves destroy the force controlling cognition before returning to ordinary life.
