Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet Specials

These specials are two additional episodes of Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet, numbered 14 and 15, which were released with the first and third Blu-ray and DVD volumes of the series.

Gargantia on the Verdurous Planet follows Ledo, a young soldier of the Galactic Alliance of Humankind who has spent his whole life fighting the monstrous Hideauze in deep space. After a battle goes wrong, he and his intelligent mecha, Chamber, are thrown through a wormhole and wake up on a long-forgotten Earth, where the polar ice has melted and the planet is covered by ocean. There Ledo is taken in by Gargantia, a huge fleet of ships lashed together, whose people survive by salvaging technology from the sea floor and trading with other fleets.

Communicating at first only through Chamber's translations, Ledo gradually gets to know the fleet's inhabitants, including the cheerful messenger girl Amy, and starts learning what it means to live in a society that is not built around war. The bonus episodes return to Ledo, Chamber, Amy and the people of the fleet, adding further stories to the world of the oceanic colony.
