The Foolish Angel Dances with the Devil

Heaven and Hell are locked in a war, and Hell is losing badly, so the demon Masatora Akutsu is sent to Earth undercover as a student with a mission to recruit talented humans and restore morale. He scans his new school for someone charismatic enough to sway others and immediately fixates on Lily Amane, a stunning girl who seems like the perfect target. Akutsu tries to charm her, then tries to recruit her, and then discovers the real problem: Lily is an undercover angel who hunts demons, and she has been waiting for someone like him. She defeats him in their first clash, spares his life, and attaches a collar that forces him to obey her commands, turning the hunter and the prey into an unwilling pair. Akutsu spends his days plotting how to break the collar and regain control, but every scheme pulls him into Lily’s plans, because she intends to use him as a tool to reform Heaven from the inside. The more time they spend together at school, the more their relationship becomes a messy mix of manipulation and genuine connection. Akutsu keeps telling himself he is only acting to survive and to help Hell, yet he starts protecting Lily in ways that go beyond strategy. Lily insists she is using him, yet she grows flustered whenever his stubborn loyalty or blunt honesty breaks through her pride. Their secret identities keep colliding with ordinary student life, forcing them to improvise, hide injuries, and cover for each other while their feelings grow stronger and more confusing.
