Hokkaido Gals Are Super Adorable!

Tsubasa Shiki is a quiet boy from Tokyo who suddenly has to start over in Kitami, a city in Hokkaido, after moving in with his grandmother. On his first day he is overwhelmed by the cold, the distance, and how unfamiliar everything feels, and then he meets Minami Fuyuki, a flashy and outgoing girl known for her gyaru style. Minami talks to him with an easy confidence, uses the local dialect without thinking about it, and shocks him by wearing a short skirt even in the middle of winter, sometimes with no gloves, as if the weather is just background noise. She decides that the new kid should not be left alone, starts pulling him into conversations and small outings, and Tsubasa finds himself drawn to her energy even when he cannot keep up with her pace. Their growing closeness also changes the classroom around them. Sayuri Akino, Minami’s close friend, bonds with Tsubasa after realizing they share the same birthday, and she becomes part of the everyday trio that forms around him. Rena Natsukawa, the top student, approaches Tsubasa from a different angle: she helps tutor him and keeps him from falling behind academically, but her steady attention turns personal when she asks him out on a date. With Minami taking the lead, Sayuri adding warmth and quiet support, and Rena pushing him in her own direct way, Tsubasa has to figure out what he actually wants in this new place, and whether the life he thought he knew in Tokyo was ever going to feel as real as the connections forming around him in Hokkaido.
