In a near future shaped by Your Forma, a brain-implanted smart thread that records sight, sound, and emotion, electronic investigator Echika Hieda conducts forensic dives into personal logs to solve crimes. After her pace hospitalizes multiple human aides, she is paired with Harold W. Lucraft, an Amicus android designed to share the data load and stabilize dives. Their initial investigations into assaults and an apartment explosion reveal attempts to tamper with archives and weaponize stored memories, with trails through clinics, device brokers, and internal leaks. To protect her privacy amid constant analysis, Echika resorts to measures that keep her expressions unreadable while Harold’s profiling grows sharper. A premature arrest forces the team to unwind planted evidence, and targeted threats against Echika escalate. By cross-referencing timelines from multiple victims and backups, the pair isolate a single network manipulating firmware and black-market data, close the case, and establish a working trust between human diver and machine partner.
