Lupin III Episode 0: The First Contact

A young and attractive writer has decided to write a book about the famous con man Arsène Lupin III and has already come up with a title: Lupin III: The First Contact. Finding Lupin himself, however, proved difficult, so she turned to his friend Daisuke Jigen for an interview. Jigen, known for his gloominess and taciturn nature, reluctantly agreed to share the story of how they met. He told her how his initial hostility and rivalry with Lupin grew into a strong friendship, where Goemon got his mighty sword, and why Inspector Zenigata devoted his life to chasing Lupin.

But can Jigen's words be trusted? Perhaps he simply wanted to impress the young writer. His story may contain a share of truth as well as fiction, for Lupin's world is full of mysteries and deception. The book's readers will surely wonder where the truth ends and invention begins, since the story Jigen tells may be just one of many versions of the events that took place around the enigmatic Arsène Lupin III.
