Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow

Mobile Suit Gundam II: Soldiers of Sorrow is the second of the three compilation films that retell the original 1979 Mobile Suit Gundam series directed by Yoshiyuki Tomino.

As the One Year War continues, Amuro Ray and the crew of the White Base must make their way across Earth toward Jaburo, the headquarters of the Earth Federation. On the way they meet several new enemies, including the veteran Zeon commander Ramba Ral and the Black Tri-Stars, and face seemingly impossible odds.

The crew also takes part in Operation Odessa, the Federation offensive to free Earth from the grip of the Zeon forces. Lives are lost, new friendships are made, and discoveries wait around every corner. Amid the fighting, Amuro begins to learn that he possesses the powers of the mysterious Newtypes.

The film focuses on the human cost of war and on Amuro's growth from a reluctant boy into a soldier.
