Elfen Lied

A horned mutant called a diclonius escapes from a coastal lab during a massacre. A head injury leaves her with amnesia and a childlike speech. Kouta and his cousin Yuka find her on the beach, call her Nyu, and hide her at their house while the lab sends teams to recover the fugitive named Lucy. An assault trooper named Bando tracks her and loses a fight on the shore. Kurama orders Number Seven, the diclonius Nana, to capture Lucy. Their first clash ends with Nana torn apart and later fitted with prosthetics. A runaway girl named Mayu and her dog Wanta drift into the group and stay. The past returns as Kouta regains memories of school days when Lucy killed bullies and later murdered his father and sister during a festival. Kurama reveals he raised Nana after being forced to father Mariko, a lethal diclonius kept in restraints. Mariko is released and faces Lucy near the coast. Kurama dies with Mariko when explosives detonate. Soldiers move on the house. A final attack breaks the gate and the music box stops. The bell rings at the door and a figure waits outside while the clock starts again.
