Overlord

A veteran player stays logged in as the servers of a fantasy MMO are supposed to shut down and finds the world still running with nonplayer guardians acting as devoted subjects. Trapped in the body of the undead ruler Ainz Ooal Gown, he tests how far game rules apply, hides ignorance behind ritual and titles, and builds a reputation that discourages questions. He sends operatives to map kingdoms, measures religions and adventurer guilds, and creates a public persona to move freely outside the tomb. Rumors are weaponized into policy while experiments on monsters and artifacts model the limits of magic. Nations read his actions as prophecy or threat and adjust borders accordingly. Ainz keeps searching for other players who might have arrived before him, judging whether contact would be rescue or war. Each campaign expands Nazarick’s influence and locks in the role he pretends to play, until the line between performance and rule stops mattering to everyone else.
