That Time I Got Reincarnated as a Slime: Tales - Veldora's Journal

Veldora, the Storm Dragon, whiles away eternity sealed inside the space created by Rimuru's unique skill Predator. His neighbor there is Ifrit, the fire spirit who was also swallowed by Rimuru and no longer has a physical body of his own. A conversation begins between them, one with no real beginning, end or logical order, played out over a game of shogi, that ancient exercise for the mind. The match drags on endlessly, accompanied by countless memories, observations and personal commentary. Ifrit talks about the episodes he himself was involved in: his defeat, his capture and his relocation into the body of another being.

He voices his surprise at Rimuru's actions, analyzing his motives, behavior and decisions, while Veldora enthusiastically adds his own recollections and judgments. The conversation drifts into musings on the meaning of power, the limits of strength and the role of leaders, as the two compare approaches to governing territory and behaving in times of crisis. Every exchange is tinged with irony, philosophical digressions and small jabs, and through their eyes the events of the season, previously seen from Rimuru's perspective, are retold and reconsidered.
