Natsume’s Book of Friends: On a Certain Snowy Day

On a Certain Snowy Day is a winter episode of Natsume's Book of Friends, the gentle supernatural series about Takashi Natsume, a boy who can see youkai and who inherited the Book of Friends, a notebook holding the names of spirits his grandmother Reiko once defeated. Together with Nyanko-sensei, a powerful youkai who usually takes the form of a round lucky cat, Natsume returns the names to their owners one by one.

As the first delicate snowflake touches the cold ground, Nyanko-sensei dozes on his hot-water bottle next to Natsume. While Natsume's aunt prepares a warm dinner, he goes out for a walk, welcoming the snow and the chilly weather. His peaceful stroll, however, is interrupted by a white, fluffy snowman youkai with unsettling black eyes, which is searching for something warm and sparkly. With nothing more to go on, Natsume sets off to help the spirit find what it desires.

Like the main series, the episode is a quiet, heartwarming tale of kindness between people and spirits, set against the calm of a snowy winter.
