Negative Positive Angler

Tsunehiro Sasaki is a university student buried under debt and fear after a doctor tells him he has only two years left to live. Chased by loan sharks and unable to see a way forward, he falls from a bridge into the sea. Hana Ayukawa, Takaaki Tsutsujimori, and their fishing friends pull him out during a night trip. Instead of sending him home at once, they keep fishing, and Tsunehiro catches a large sea bass through beginner’s luck. The moment does not fix his life, but it gives him a first break from panic. When his apartment situation collapses, Takaaki helps him get work at a convenience store connected to the group, giving him a place to earn money and stay close to the people who saved him.

Tsunehiro begins learning fishing from people who treat it as part of daily life rather than a miracle cure. Hana is serious, competitive, and direct, so she pushes him to understand tools, bait, tides, patience, and the reason a catch matters beyond size. Takaaki steadies him through work and practical help. The others bring him into trips where waiting, failure, and small success slowly replace the loop of debt and illness in his head. Tsunehiro still has a diagnosis and unpaid money hanging over him, but his days stop being only a countdown. He learns to show up for shifts, answer people honestly, and return to the water even when nothing bites. Fishing becomes the routine that keeps him connected to the present, while the group around him gives him a life he had already started giving up on.
