Blue Exorcist: The Blue Night Saga

After the artificial gate to Gehenna opens fully and ordinary people begin seeing demons, Assiah slips into panic, and Yukio breaks away from the Knights of the True Cross to head for the Illuminati. Rin realizes he cannot face his brother or Satan without learning what really happened at the start of their lives, so Mephisto sends him forty years into the past. There Rin watches the first meeting between Yuri Egin, an orphan surviving in an abandoned factory, and Shiro Fujimoto, a runaway test subject from Section 13. Yuri, marked out because she can see demons, is taken into the exorcist training school Asylum, while Shiro is dragged back and tries to bargain with Mephisto. As the vessel Satan inhabits begins to decay, the chain of events called the Blue Night ignites, and blue flames swallow powerful clergy across the world while exorcists in Japan and beyond fight to hold the line. The story closes in on how Shiro later raises Rin and Yukio at the monastery, trying to teach one control and the other courage as Satan’s voice grows louder and the fateful day draws near.
