Initial D Battle Stage

Initial D Battle Stage is a compilation special of the street racing anime Initial D, based on Shuichi Shigeno's manga. The franchise follows Takumi Fujiwara, a quiet teenager who has unknowingly honed incredible driving skills by delivering tofu for his father's shop down the winding roads of Mount Akina in the family's Toyota AE86, and who soon finds himself challenged by rival racers from all over Gunma.

The many street races of the series are its true highlight, and this OVA has no plot of its own beyond gathering them into one stage. It collects the mountain pass battles from the earlier installments, from Takumi's duels against rivals such as Takeshi Nakazato and Ryosuke Takahashi to the clashes between other drivers. The original dialogue during each race is left intact, preserving the tension, the drivers' thoughts and the commentary of the spectators. Without story segments in between, it serves as a nonstop showcase of drifting, tight cornering and roaring engines set to the series' trademark Eurobeat soundtrack.
