Made in Abyss

Riko lives in Orth, a town built around a massive chasm called the Abyss, a place that promises discovery and swallows people whole. She is an orphan raised among cave raiders, and she grows up believing the Abyss is not just danger, it is a calling. During an expedition she finds a strange boy she names Reg, who looks human but carries signs he is something else, and he has no memory of who he is or where he came from. Riko’s life changes again when evidence suggests her mother Lyza may be waiting at the bottom, the deepest place no one returns from. Riko decides to descend, and Reg chooses to go with her, partly to protect her and partly to chase his own missing past. The trip is not a straight adventure. Each layer has its own hazards, and the deeper they go, the more the Abyss punishes anyone who tries to climb back up. Riko and Reg have to rely on each other through fear, injuries, and choices that cannot be undone, while the world above becomes a distant idea and the bottom becomes a promise that might be truth or a trap.
